Ivy Tech production of 鈥極leanna鈥 kicks off theatre season

Tickets are now available for Ivy Tech鈥檚 fall and spring 2014 student theatre productions at the Ivy Tech John Waldron Arts Center. Reserve tickets now for 鈥極leanna鈥, by David Mamet, directed by Jeffery Allen,August 23 and August 24 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at听.

The following two Ivy Tech Student Productions in the 2013-14 Season include 鈥楴o Exit鈥 by Jean-Paul Sartre, directed by Paul Daily, October 25 鈥 November 2 and 鈥楳acbeth鈥 by William Shakespeare, directed by Jeffery Allen, April 11 鈥 19, 2014.

鈥淥ur season is designed to go hand-in-hand with Ivy Tech鈥檚 new acting classes,鈥 Paul Daily, Artistic Director of the Ivy Tech Waldron said. 鈥淭heatre classes and student productions offer students a wide range of opportunities including seeing experienced actors in the upcoming 鈥極leanna鈥, along with the chance to tackle Shakespeare with 鈥楳acbeth.鈥 The fall production of 鈥楴o Exit鈥 aims to introduce students to existentialism.鈥

Former Ivy Tech student actors Billy Gilliam and Heidi Mikac performed in three of Ivy Tech鈥檚 productions during the 2012-13 Season, and both graduated in May 2013. Gilliam started out as the one-dimensional Henchman in 鈥榃aiting for Lefty,鈥 moved up to the Trucker for 鈥楾he Rimers of Eldrich,鈥 and then landed the role of Father in 鈥楾he Giver.鈥

鈥淲hen I鈥檓 in the Rose Firebay and sharing that space with my fellow actors, there isn鈥檛 any place else I鈥檇 want to be,鈥 Billy Gilliam, Ivy Tech alumnus, and military veteran said. 鈥淢y experience in 鈥楾he Giver鈥 was the best one of the Ivy Tech student productions I鈥檝e been in.鈥

鈥淚 can鈥檛 begin to tell you how much I love performing in Ivy Tech plays,鈥 Heidi Mikac, Ivy Tech alumna said. 鈥淭he plays Ivy Tech does are so unique. I had never heard of 鈥榃aiting for Lefty鈥 or 鈥楾he Rimers of Eldritch鈥 before auditioning and I am so honored that I got to be a part of both of them.鈥
